Well Fed Neighbor Alliance spokesman Galen Chadwick along with former Republican Asst. Majority Leader Mark Wright and Kat Logan-Smith, President of Missouri Coalition for the Environment, will headline this significant trans-partisan gathering of distinguished politicians, business', farmers, and families.

Galen Chadwick who will be the key-note speaker at the fair remarked, “I am very proud that the Well Fed Neighbor Alliance is leading this historic and unifying effort of implementing the 'first in the nation' movement of restoring a state-wide food supply system that will guarantee food security and independence for Missouri families. The fact is Missourians cannot independently feed themselves and only through a coalition effort of citizens working beyond politics can we fix that. I am pleased Mr. Wright and Mrs. Logan-Smith have agreed to join this monumental cause by providing leadership beyond politics and for all Missourians.”

Mr. Wright explains, "The unifying theme of the food independence movement is creating a peaceful, prosperous, inclusive, and sustainable future for our children and grandchildren. The cold-hard facts is that we cannot feed ourselves. There is not one county in Missouri that can independently feed itself. We as a people have lost the knowledge and skills it takes to fulfill the most basic need in life: feeding ourselves. We import over 90% of our food from outside Missouri......what happens if a major disaster or war impedes the energy distribution lines and the grocery trucks stop rolling? FEMA states that there is only 72 hours of food in the nation's supply chain. What happens next? The government no longer maintains strategic emergency grain reserves. Who decides when or if we eat? The most basic right of man--the ability to feed ourselves--cannot ever be abrogated because the alternative is destruction determined by strangers. What sane human being allows the destiny of their children and their neighbors to be determined by name-less, face-less, corporate elites who can't plan a food storage system beyond three days? Missouri at the turn of the century was the bread basket for the world....producing literally tens of millions of pounds of grain that fed Missourians first and then the world. Now we can't even independently feed one county. We can, We must, We will learn how to feed ourselves once again. The citizens of Missouri working together can re-store food freedom, energy sovereignty, and economic self reliance. It is our heritage. It is our duty. It is our responsibility. Our destiny is ours to choose. Sovereignty means no less. The Missouri Citizen's Food Security Congress will be a place for the people of Missouri to unite and say ENOUGH. We are ONE people, with ONE purpose, and ONE future."

“The vision of state-wide food sustainability means expanding our local economy by growing local food, buying local food, and eating local food. Therefore, the initiative of Grow Local-Buy Local-Eat Local will be at the center of restoring food security, independence, jobs, and health for Missouri families. The Missouri Citizen's Food Security Congress will consist of volunteers explaining how to specifically accomplish this note worthy achievement.” concluded Mrs. Logan-Smith.

The Well Fed Neighbor Alliance began a successful volunteer-led pilot project three years ago originating in Springfield and expanding to 30 counties. This initiative has led to the formation of a state wide coalition campaign aimed at mobilizing a coordinated, comprehensive, and all-volunteer grassroots restoration of citizen control over our local and bio-regional food and energy supply systems. The pilot project developed successfully in the Ozarks will be the main topic of discussion at the Congress and will be the primary model for creating a state-wide food supply system.
