Everything you need to learn to spin yarn via drop spindle without spending a lot of money. Includes bottom-whirl drop spindle, leader, prepared fiber, and instructions with brief history. Retro, old-meets-new recycled materials.

We recommend you start spinning with a kit like this. Learn the basic skill, find out if you are good at it, and make sure you like doing it before spending money on a turned-wood drop spindle or spinning wheel, or expensive fiber. We can provide these in larger kits for classroom instruction or homeschool groups. We can provide personal instruction and tips at any event or gathering to get you started or by email if you get stuck.

We include a small amount of prepared fiber to spin first (about an ounce). This will be either wool roving or wool rolags ("batts"). Wool is one of the easiest fibers to get started with and we recommend you work with the wool before trying vegetable fibers or exotic animal fibers such as silk. Fiber may be un-dyed, natural dyed, or artificial dyed. If purchasing this at an event, you can pick out your own kit. Otherwise it is luck-of-the-draw, but if you have a preference (color for instance), specify in the Comments section and we will do what we can.
